weight of glory

ever to the cross i turn
after falling times again
for it's there i see true love
and all i could desire
these things i chase forsake again
my earthly loves and fleeting sins
always leave me broken down
and empty all my strivings

   yet at the cross
   i've been brought near
   a wand'ring child
   who loved the world
    but though far off
    you've loved me still
    and all your death
    you died for me
    and on the cross
    you gave it all

everything you were it cost
the consummation of the world
all your glory cast aside
to save a wretch like me

[the cost of the cross was Christ, all he owned and giving it up,
to own the death we all deserved
and being cut off from eternal love and fellowship
that was all His right and forfeiting His claim to His glory.
He knew the cost and gladly paid it
loving us and knowing the weight
of glory that was invested in this plan.
Our right response is to give our lives because
they are nothing in compare
with what He gave up
(even if His was only a temporary suspension)]

{The weight of our sin and the Weight of His glory}
[our sin drags us down, but we can exchange it for His glory which will lift us up]
